Eric Swalwell

SAN FRANCISCO, September 2 — Newly obtained footage shows former U.S. Representative Eric Swalwell being met by FBI agents at San Francisco International Airport, a visual development that adds fresh texture to an already sprawling investigation into the California Democrat. The video, first reported by the California Post on September 1, depicts Swalwell—wearing a black sweatshirt and hat—deboarding a plane where federal agents confronted him at his gate on August 15.

According to Fox News Digital’s previous reporting, the FBI seized Swalwell’s cellphone and laptop at the airport on that date. Agents searched his Washington, D.C., home the following day.

These actions form part of an escalating sexual misconduct investigation. Swalwell, a California progressive who served 13 years in Congress, resigned in April amid allegations he has denied. He also withdrew from the California gubernatorial race.

At least five women, including one former staffer, have accused him of sexual misconduct or rape.

The Resignation Statement

Swalwell’s own words have complicated his position. In his resignation statement, he wrote: “I will fight the serious false allegations made against me. However, I must take responsibility and ownership for the mistakes I did make.” The new airport footage prompted criticism and mockery on social media.

Former Representative George Santos wrote, “I needed this lol.” The conservative account Catturd posted, “He’s still cooked.” Other users fixed on his attire, with one writing, “Looks like he’s headed to an Eminem concert,” another asking, “Why is he dressed like Eminem,” and a woman asking, “WTF is he wearing.”

The Fang Fang Dimension

Separately, the White House recently released declassified documents related to an FBI investigation into Swalwell’s relationship with Christine “Fang Fang” Fang, a suspected Chinese intelligence operative. According to documents released by the White House Government Transparency task force, Swalwell told FBI agents he had “physical relations” with Fang on a handful of occasions, with their last sexual encounter occurring in March 2015. The FBI interviewed Swalwell regarding the relationship in May 2015 and again in March 2016.

Fang was previously described by U.S. officials as having suspected ties to China’s Ministry of State Security, and her parents were reportedly linked to Chinese intelligence. Fox News Digital reached out to Swalwell’s attorney and the FBI for comment on the new footage.
